Editing Resources

Every filmmaker has their tools, and while my editing workstation is a key part of how I get work done, there are a number of other resources that I’ve found helpful over the years.

Frame.io

My favorite way to collaborate with directors, producers, or anyone else who needs to review a video. Receiving timecode-based feedback is amazing – plus, heir integration into Premiere is super nifty.

Soundly

Awesome 2-in-1 resource, since it’s both a library of SFX and a tool to organize any other sounds you already have.

Knights of the Editing Table

A collection of genius plugins to improve your editing workflow. (Added bonus: their little promo videos are hilarious.)

Toggl

As an editor your time is your greatest asset (aside from your taste). This is the time tracker I use in order to get a sense of how much time I’m spending on an edit.

Asana

Similarly, being able to keep track of deadlines is important (the worst thing you can do is deliver cuts late). There’s a ton of great project management software, this is the one I use.

EditingTools.io

A nifty collection of niche plugins. My personal favorite is their music cue sheet generator (especially after manually creating far too many of those by hand).

Rev

Awesome speech-to-text service that’s a fabulous tool to help with captioning! Of course, Premiere has a nifty AI transcription tool built in now, but there’s still a time and place for Rev too.
